Silence

Slowly the crackling, crumbling sounds simmer into the senses as the dream ends. Eyes reveal light and motion and feet touch the floor as they support the weight of rising. Red and yellow laughter mingled with blue beauty and teal troubles gently lap at the ears, tingling with their pleasant invitation. But, what now!, the feet carry the body out the door, away from the laughter and tears. The hands fumble with the doors briefly, and then...the soothing gray of lifelessness.
Painfully, gently, the hands swing the doors shut, sloughing the crowd like a coat. Out here...in the open...muted gray-white sound whispers silence. The mist wraps sight in a cold, soft blanket, revealing the semblance of existence in a world gently dim. A cold stone bench is found and this finite purchase is accepted....waiting....
